✅ Applied Knowledge Statements – Replaces traditional KSAs, shifting the focus to real-world application of knowledge rather than simple recall (rote memorization.
✅ Greater Emphasis on Values & Ethics – This section will now carry the highest percentage of questions, reflecting its growing importance in social work.
✅The new content areas will be: Values and Ethics, Assessment and Planning, and Intervention and Practice.Â
🔹 Why These Changes? These updates are data-driven, based on input from 25,000+ social workers to ensure the exam better reflects real-world practice.
🔹 What’s Next?A diverse panel of 75+ social workers will help set the passing standards for the new exams, ensuring fairness and accuracy.
The 2026 ASWB exams are designed to be clearer, more relevant, and competency-focused and reflect a valid and reliable interpretation of social work practice across the U.S. and Canada.
